Migrating Mission Critical Applications from RISC to Virtualized IA at Eli Lilly

Migrating Mission Critical Applications from RISC to Virtualized IA at Eli Lilly
End-users are often hesitant to move mission critical applications from incumbent technologies to newer more advanced ones because of the high risk involved and large amount of resource required as well as up time during the migration.
Eli Lilly in conjunction with Intel, VMware, EMC, HP, and Red Hat recently migrated its RISC/UNIX/SAP/Oracle platforms to virtualized Intel X86/VMware ESX/Red Hat/DB2. During this session speakers will discuss the major facets/challenges/decisions of both the software migration as well as the infrastructure upgrades during this migration.
Attendees will hear about the architecture, best practices, and new capabilities achieved from this project.
Speaker(s):
Greg Adair, Global Linux/Unix Platform Architect, Eli Lilly
Alan Bumgarner, Engineering Manager, Intel Corporation
Scott Dial, SAP BASIS Architect, Eli Lilly
Brandon King, Industry Transformation Architect, Intel Corporation
