A Beginner’s Guide to Performance Troubleshooting with vSphere

A Beginner’s Guide to Performance Troubleshooting with vSphere
If you have ever been frustrated with the performance of your VMs in a virtualized environment, and do not know where to turn, come to this talk.
I will go over basic troubleshooting techniques with stories pulled from customer interactions and personal experience to help you understand how to do basic troubleshooting of performance issues in your vSphere environment. I will discuss the types of counters vSphere collects, how they are used, and how they map to the underlying physical hardware counters that you are used to seeing in your native hardware. I will discuss CPU, Memory, Storage, and Network counters: what they mean and how to use them. Armed with this knowledge, hopefully you will be better equipped to do basic troubleshooting of your tier-1 apps, cloud apps, or development setups. This talk is meant for customers, ecosystem partners, or just people who are excited about virtualization.
