Embracing Employee-Owned Mobile Phones – The Why and How
While corporate-issued mobile phones and checking emails at all times of the day and night have been synonymous, enterprises are realizing that more corporate applications can be made available on mobile phones to provide the ultimate flexibility to their employees. At the same time, enterprises are also seeing an increasing number of employees purchasing capable smart phones for personal use and actually preferring to use their personal device rather than carrying two phones. IT organization are struggling with embracing employee-owned mobile phones due to concerns over security, compliance and manageability especially as they consider mobilize more applications. There is an inherent and unresolved tension between employees wanting device freedom and IT wanting control. This session documents how IT can leverage mobile phone virtualization to take control over devices while giving their employees the freedom to choose any device. Besides making the case to support employee-owned mobile phones, this session will provide an architectural drill down of the VMware solution for enterprise mobility and will include a live demo.
